Firstly, thank you to Chris for asking me to join him on The Mentor Project’s first podcast to discuss the Future of Energy which, as I regularly mention is one of the most active sectors globally as companies, entrepreneurs, governments, and investors alike continue to pour vast amounts of funding and focus into as we try to transition our world to a low carbon economy and more sustainable forms of energy generation and distribution.

From my vantage point today, and as per my recent keynote in Switzerland where we discussed Our Abundant Energy Future 2050, the energy sector is going through its own equivalent of the Cambrian Era with hundreds of breakthroughs criss-crossing hundreds of different disciplines – from breakthroughs in battery, grid scale storage, renewables, and wireless energy, as well as in more legacy energy fields such as fusion and nuclear, right through to more sci-fi like fields including energy generating materials, energy harvesting, nano-generation, and even space based power plants.
