In order to grow revenues and increase the impact that its trade finance arm has on helping the company generate new sticky business DP World, the global logistics powerhouse, has teamed up with Banco del Pacífico and Mastercard to launch a new business credit card aimed at Ecuador’s ports and logistics sector. Carlos Merino, CEO of DP World for Ecuador, Colombia, and Peru, said the partnership underscored the company’s focus on innovation and tailored solutions for businesses in the region.

“The DP World Business Credit Card is more than a financial tool – it’s a gateway to greater operational efficiency and global connectivity,” he said.

DP World’s presence in Ecuador is significant, with its deepwater port at Posorja recognised as one of Latin America’s most modern and secure ports, offering vital links between Ecuador and international markets. Alongside its port operations, DP World provides end-to-end logistics services across the supply chain, and the new credit card is intended to integrate financial tools more deeply into that ecosystem.

The card offers secure chip and contactless technology, flexible payment options including deferred and cash payments, a mileage plan with welcome miles and rewards for spending, up to 45 days of interest-free credit, and worldwide acceptance wherever Mastercard operates. Crucially for businesses tied to DP World’s operations, it also connects seamlessly with the company’s digital payment systems, including its Cash Management platform and payment buttons, making it easier for clients to manage logistics-related costs.

Speaking at the launch, Merino highlighted how financial tools like this are essential for helping Ecuadorian businesses thrive in an increasingly competitive environment. Banco del Pacífico echoed those sentiments, pointing to the card’s potential to simplify complex transactions and provide stronger financial backing for companies working in logistics and trade.

The DP World Business Credit Card is now available at Banco del Pacífico branches across Ecuador, open to existing DP World clients as well as new customers. The three partners hope the card will become a vital financial instrument for businesses operating in Ecuador’s ports and broader logistics network, as the country continues to position itself in the global trade landscape.
